Call for Participants to iGEM 2011

Attn. PhD candidates

We are now looking for two PhD candidates who are interested in social and ethical aspects of technology, and who would be interested in participating in iGEM 2011 with the “Hokkaido Univ. iGEM Team”, a worldwide undergraduate competition in synthetic biology. One student will be dispatched to the Asian Regional Jamboree (Oct. 15-16, Hong Kong), another to World Championship Jamboree (Nov. 5-7, MIT, Cambridge, MA). Participants will be asked to investigate and interview other teams regarding their “Human Practices”, and to report on what kinds of education and awareness would be required scientists involved in genetic research. Participants are expected to give their views from the perspective of future scientists. The area of specialization is not limited. Participants will receive full financial support for airfare and partial accommodation expenses.
