A pre-meeting tour (with a short scientific session) will be held between 2nd-4th September at a wetland and coastal JaLTER-site in eastern Hokkaido (Akkeshi).

The scientific programs on 5th September include research and networking topics related to the below potential themes. The program will be organized as; plenary lecture(s), oral presentations and poster presentations. The poster presentations will be given by any participants; ILTER members, JaLTER members and related scientists and students.
Potential themes of the session (oral and poster presentations):
[1] Trends in long term ecological researches: towards the next step of LTER science.
[2] Biodiversity and ecosystem functions in various types of ecosystems.
[3] Current status in biodiversity and ecosystem observations in Asia-Pacific regions (J-BON, AP-BON, AsiaFlux).
[4] Effective monitoring for natural disaster and climate change impacts.
[5] Land use change and ecosystem services: navigating ecological studies to society.
[6] Data, observation techniques and knowledge sharing for further scientific activities.
Papers are also invited for the program on 6th September. This program will be divided into two parts:
Part 1: Recent advances in ILTER science.
Part 2: Progress on new ILTER research collaborations - either updates on the research initiatives started in Israel Meetings in 2010 or new ideas.
