For students

Introduction of Laboratory

Our labolatory consists of 23 members(at Oct. 25, 2022), including 4 doctoral course students, 12 master course students and 2 staff members. Students are studying hard under Associate Professor Kamiya’s direction every day. Because our department does not have undergraduate course, many students come from the universities other than Hokkaido University. Most of students haven’t learned a catalytic chemistry until come to the laboratory, and have learned the field of a variety of chemistry as organic, inorganic, analytical, or theoretical. A few students have learned physics and dairy farming in their undergraduate education. However, don’t worry! In the laboratory, we are learning catalytic chemistry very well from fundamental to application through a seminar and research activities, so we will be excellent(?) catalytic chemist when graduating.

Research is a process elucidating the universe through expriments (catalysis is a part of the universe). It is important for the research that we think ideas with free minds, and he, Assoc. Prof. Kamiya, hopes that the laboratory is the place to be able to do it. He wants students to be able to think and originate in their own words. Not a copy of someone else’s opinions and ideas.

We are always reseaeching develop heterogeneous catalysts and solid materials with high functionalities to contribute to environmental cleanup and remediation with the sprit of “We do not inherit the Earth from our Ancestors, we borrow it from our Children.”

The recommendation of the examination

In Kamiya laboratory, we are looking for graduate students who are conducting research together. Graduate School of Env. Science is a independent graduate school that there is no department. Would you start the research in a whole new environment? We recommend the exam of such people!

  • People who are interested in environmental purification and environmental conservation.
  • People who want to learn a catalytic chemistry.
  • Motivated people.
  • People who have strong pioneering spirit.
  • people who want to enjoy the reserch.
  • Setting aside conventional field, people who want to study chemistry.
  • People who like Hokkaido.
  • People who can enjoy the snow.
  • Peoplw who like ramen.
  • People who don’t like hot weather.
  • People who like beer.
  • People who like nature.
  • People who like bicycle.

Visiting laboratory

We introduce to visitors the latest information of research cannot introduce on the WEB, reactor and analysis equipment of the laboratory, living conditions, and voices of the affiliated graduate atudents. We also provide information such as the entrance examination system and past exam questions. If you have interest, we recommend you to visit to us. If you would like to visit, please contact by e-mail or telephone. Visit only principle on weekdays, but we accept all year round. Since it is well enough in plain clothes, please come to feel free. There is also the case of absense Kamiya to visit day, please understand that there is the case where graduate students are corresponding.
