Closing Compliments and Announcement of the Commemorative Website

I am pleased to announce that our Global COE Program – Establishment of Center for Integrated Field Environmental Science – successfully completed on March 31st, 2013, with the great help of everyone who had worked with us since 2008 when the program was accepted by the MEXT. Thank you so much for your cooperation and participation for this long five years.

Setting our goals ‘Establishing 100-Year Observation Network’ and ‘Human Resource Development to cultivate Environmental Leaders who can be active not only in a research field but also in administrative agencies, private enterprise, and educational field’, this program was carried forward by three promotion offices; Overseas Research & Student Exchange Promotion Office consisting of three observation sites in Indonesia, Mongolia and Russia; International Network & Training Office which took advantages of research fields that the Field Science Center for Northern Biosphere; and Regional Education & Outreach Promotion Office which offered practical opportunities for opening up multi-career path and human interaction in addition to Integrated Modeling Task Force, Policy Proposing Task Force, International Antarctic Institute Curriculum Task Force, and Project Support Unit.
Especially in career-up programs, I appreciated that a lot of students took part in summer schools, GCOE-RA, Travel support funding for overseas conferences and workshops, Support funding for visiting program for overseas institutes and fields, Invitation fellowship program for overseas researcher, and Original proposal for Career-up program. Again, let me express my gratitude to all the faculties and administrative staff members for supporting us, and students from all over the world for participating in our program.

In conclusion, I really hope you all will successfully flourish in the world using experiences you gained through our GCOE program.

Thank you.
