Position Open: Associate Professor
Location: Sapporo, Japan
Faculty of Environmental Earth Science, Hokkaido University invites applications for the
academic position of Associate Professor.
Available position: Associate Professor, full-time (tenured).

Institution:
Group of Climate Dynamics, Section of Earth System Science, Faculty of
Environmental Earth Science.
Education in charge:
Course in Atmosphere-Ocean and Climate Dynamics, Division of Earth System
Science, Graduate School of Environmental Science.
Research field:
Atmospheric and oceanic sciences. We are seeking a candidate who will conduct the
research mainly in the field of atmospheric physics and/or physical oceanography
based on geophysical fluid dynamics or climate dynamics with a global perspective.
Qualifications:
The applicant must have a doctoral degree. The candidate is expected to have a
remarkable achievement and leadership in the related research field and be able to
contribute to the education and research for students in the above education course.
Probationary period: 3 months.
Working hours:
The discretionary working system in the type of professional work. The working hours
for a day are deemed as 7 hours and 45 minutes.
Salary and allowances:
Compensation based on the National University Corporation Hokkaido University Salary
Rules for Faculty Subject to Annual Salary System.
Social insurance:
Employees’ Pension Insurance (Kousei Nenkin), MEXT Mutual Aid Association Health
Insurance, Employment Insurance, and Industrial Accident Compensation Insurance.

(1) A full curriculum vitae (add your Web of Science ResearcherID if available).
(2) A list of scientific publications (it should be classified into original peer-reviewed
papers, reviews, and others), and a list of external research funds awarded to the
applicant.
(3) Reprints or copies of five representative papers.
(4) Outlines of research history and future perspectives (about 1,000 words).
(5) Outlines of education experience and future perspectives (about 1,000 words).
(6) Two references with their contact information.
(7) A storage medium, such as a CD, DVD or USB flash memory, containing PDF files
of the above documents (1) – (6).
Closing date for application:
The application must reach us no later than September 30, 2022 (Japan Standard
Time).
Job starting date:
The earliest day of convenience after or on the day of April 1, 2023.
