Special Grant Program for International Students \/ Research Assistant Program of Graduate School of Environmental Science (October 2026)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

This program will select students who can likely contribute internationally in their research field, from those applying to doctoral courses at the Graduate School of Environmental Science.
Participating in research as a Research Assistant (RA) is very meaningful to develop your research ability. Each Research Assistant must serve to achieve the objective of a research subject directed by a Graduate School of Environmental Science faculty member. The research subjects are listed below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Period<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Maximum 3 years, with the annual extension subject to evaluation of achievements by a faculty committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Qualifications of application (Eligibility):<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Students (mainly from developing countries) who seek admission to the doctor courses of the Graduate School of Environmental Science.

If the students of this Special Grant Program are also selected as recipients of the doctoral fellowships, they must choose one of them and decline the others.<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n


Payment Exemption \/ RA Allowance:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Payment Exemption: Total amount of school fees is entirely covered by Hokkaido University (i.e., entrance exam fee of 30,000 yen, admission fee of 282,000 yen, and the annual tuition fee of 535,800 yen for each of three years). RA Allowance (depending on the actual working time): Total 3 million yen (1 million yen annually for three years)
The applicant should meet travel expenses for the entrance exam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  4. A list of publications and presentations in scientific meetings<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. A research proposal<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Direction and comments of potential supervisor and at least one co-supervisor, including proofs of communication between you and the potential supervisors<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  7. Master’s thesis or other documents in proof of your research ability<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Title: \u00a0Synthesis of Cyclostilbene Molecules for Light-Driven Actuator Applications<\/strong>
    Professor:     Masaki Horie<\/a><\/strong>
    Course:     Course in Molecular Photonics and Electronics Science<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    This study aims to synthesize photoresponsive cyclostilbenes for light-driven actuator and sensing applications. Cyclostilbenes are expected to undergo reversible structural transformation upon visible-light irradiation, leading to changes in cavity size and electronic environment. A series of cyclostilbenes with different ring sizes and substituents will be synthesized to investigate their photomechanical and molecular recognition properties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Title: \u00a0Synthesis of Self-Assembling Corannulene Derivatives for Photomechanical Energy Conversion Applications<\/strong>

    Course:     Course in Molecular Photonics and Electronics Science<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    This study aims to synthesize self-assembling corannulene derivatives for light-driven actuator and energy conversion applications. Corannulene derivatives are expected to exhibit unique self-assembly behavior and electronic properties originating from their curved \u03c0-conjugated structures. A series of corannulene derivatives with different substituents will be synthesized to investigate their self-assembly, photoresponsive, photomechanical, and energy conversion properties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
