Selection Methods and Additional Required Documents for the Division in Environmental Science Development (June 29, 2020)

We will conduct "Submitted Document Examinations" and "Online Oral Examinations" instead of "Written Tests" and "Oral Examinations" to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Applicants to Master's Course

I. Additional Required Documents
In addition to the required documents for the application to be submitted by Friday, July 17 by postal mail to the Office of Academic Affairs Section, Graduate School of Environmental Science, additional documents described here shall be submitted via e-mail to the Division Office in Environmental Science Development (address shown below) by Tuesday, August 18, 2020.
※Contact to a prospective supervisor in advance is strongly recommended.



II. Selection Methods
Selection for admission will be conducted by the submitted documents and online oral examination. Online oral examination is composed of the following (1) online interview, (2) foreign language examination, and (3) online specialized subject examination. For details please read this.
    1. Online Interview
      • Online interview will involve PowerPoint presentation and Q&A based on part of the submitted documents.
    2. Foreign language examination
      • 1)Foreign language (English) will be evaluated by part of the submitted documents and by online interview.
      • 2)Those who optionally submit TOEFL, TOEIC or IELTS score sheet can also take the English examination during the online interview. The higher of the two scores will be converted to the English examination result score using a conversion formula specified by the division.
    3. Online specialized subject examination
      • Ability in the specialized subject will be evaluated by online Q&A along with part of the submitted documents.
About "Online oral examination"
  • Applicants should prepare a personal computer or tablet, equipped with microphone, speaker and web-camera to connect the online meeting system, Zoom.
  • Applicants should prepare the environment to transmit/receive the video and audio via Zoom and take the online oral examination in a private room where no one else is in the room.
  • A test for connection will be set prior to the online oral examination.
  • Applicants should prepare examination admission tickets and passports to confirm their own identification on the web-camera.
  • Details for the online examination will be announced by the return envelope with the examination admission tickets.
