Introduction and tutorial training course of digital mapping using the Leica Photogrammetry Suite system

Introduction and tutorial training course of digital mapping using the Leica
Photogrammetry Suite system will be held. If you wish to join this training
course, please contact the address below by Feb. 28th;
Dr. Takanobu Sawagaki (Assistant Prof. Course in Geoecology and Field
Informatics)
E-mail: sawagaki"at"ees.hokudai.ac.jp
"at"=@

Brief introductions of this course are as follows;

Mar 5th (Place: A309)
10:00~12:00 Guidance (setting up schedules for the tutorials in small
groups)
13:00~16:00 Lecture of Cartography, GIS mapping and Digital photogrametory

Practice group 1
Mar 8th to 10th (Place: A307)
9:00~17:00 tutorials for using the Leica Photogrammetry Suite

Practice group 2
Mar 15th to 17th (Place: A307)
9:00~17:00 tutorials for using the Leica Photogrammetry Suite

-- course students are breached up into small groups

During this course you will learn how to use the Leica Photogrammetry Suite
(LPS), which is a software application for performing photogrammetric
operations on imagery and extracting information from imagery. LPS is
significant because it is a leading commercial photogrammetry application
that is used by numerous national mapping agencies, regional mapping
authorities, various Department of Transportation, as well as commercial
mapping firms. Aside from commercial and government applications, LPS is
widely used in academic research.

LPS is generally used for the processing of raw imagery through to the
creation geospatial data products such as counter maps, digital terrain
models, 3D features, and digital orthophotos. There are a number of
approaches for photogrammetric applications. Imagery may come from remote
sensing satellites, airborne cameras (film or digital), or ground-based
cameras. Once the images are triangulated, image pairs may be viewed in
stereo and 3D measurements can be made. The system can automatically
generate digital terrain models, which can be reviewed and edited in stereo.
