Information for Admission
We are focusing on investigation and education for the environmental science, especially from the viewpoint of energy security. Thus, participation of master- and doctor- (Ph. D) course students from various scientific fields are desired. If you are interested in our investigations and education, please send an e-mail directrly (for e-mail, [at] should be replaced by @).

About iYagi Laboratory
iYagi Lab. is founded in 2013 to mainly investigate the polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFCs), which can provide the energy security as ecological clean energy supply. We will focus on the dynamic atomic or molecurar structures and functions of substantial materilas such as electrocatalysts and ionomers using the state-of-the-art technologies like syncrotron radiation and ultrafast lasers. Multi-metal complex-catalysts are also investigated to mimic the biofunctional materials, such as metalloenzymes, to realize both the highest activity toward the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and the much lower cost than platinum-group metal (PGM) catalysts. Other chemical-electric energy conversion devices will be developed to establish the society with three "E"s : "E"nvironment Protection, "E"conomic Growth, and "E"nergy Security. Electrocatalysts for nitrate reduction and nitrogen cycles are also started to investigate.
The brief introduction of the labo. can be found here: Research Frontier in Hokkaido University

Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cells (PEFCs)
PEFC is a very complicated multi-dimensional system. The size of materials and phenomena cover nano-to-macro scales and the "state-of-the-art" measurements are required .
